Hardknott Pass is the penultimate and toughest climb on the Fred Whitton Challenge. 
 
Throughout the day of the event, the weather inevitably changes altering the light, the view, and the difficulty of the climb.
 
This painting is formed of 3 separate paintings in 3 different conditions:
1. Horrendous wet weather
2. Midday full sun
3. End of day sunset 
 
The 3 paintings were then sliced up and reformed in to 3 'stripey' paintings depicting the different conditions we find on Hardknott and the lakes in general.
 
Painted in acrylics on canvas paper, mounted and framed ina  white 42cm x 52cm white frame.
