I think this is one of my favourite views in The Lake District.
Imagine a drive over Kirkstone Pass as the sun is rising behind the fell casting dark shadows on the scree slopes left and right, through the mist and rising cloud the sun reflects off Ullswater and the distant foothills of Helvellyn and Gowbarrow Fell.
This is the view you get after the first climb on the Fred Whitton challenge, it’s often pretty chilly but the descent is just epic!
The painting is acrylics on a 102cm x 102cm square shallow box canvas.
