This is the highest road pass in England.  The climb hits 16% on the climb from Windermere, so whilst it is not too steep, the length makes it challenging.
 
This is the first big climb on the Fred Whitton Challenge, the ascent was in mist, and the descent was stunning as the mist broke and Ullswater and the nearby Fells were bathed in sunshine.
